Description
2 Pol Ferjac SparrowsThis sale is for 2 early Pol Ferjac french art glass sparrows. Pol Ferjac (1900-1979) was a French artist, French Resistance member, and father of actress Anouk Ferjac. He was best known in his later years as a caricaturist, but as a young man he attended the Beaux-Arts de Paris (the National School of Fine Arts) and produced many glass figurines in the styles of Sabino and Lalique. These figurines are often mistaken for and sold as Sabino, but if you look closely at the side of the figurines near the base, you will see the name "Ferjac" on one side and "France" on the other. Nevertheless, the fact that these pieces are so often mistaken for Sabino speaks to their artistic quality and beauty. They are, obviously, somewhat rarer than Sabino pieces. It is difficult to find them in pairs like this. These two pieces weigh about 2 pounds total (3 pounds with packaging) and are approximately 3 1/2" long x 2" wide x 4" tall.
