Gibberellic Acid, is a naturally occurring growth hormone. A member of plant hormones called Gibberellins which regulate the growth rate of plants. First discovered in Japan as a result of the study of a rice condition called "foolish seedling" disease. This condition caused the plants to grow much taller than normal. Gibberellin effects were not understood until many years after their discovery.
This potent growth hormone whose occurrence naturally in plants controls their development. Gibberellic Acid regulates plant growth, very low concentrations can have an extremely profound effect.
If you are scarce on time to focus upon your plants, Gibberellic Acid can produce incredible results with very little effort. Impress your friends and produce incredibly large plants. Only you will know the secret to your green thumb.
Applications of Gibberellic Acid in fruit and vegetable gardens can produce significantly higher volumes per plant. In applications near the terminal bud of trees, increased growth can be seen season wide. An experiment applied a 1% Gibberellic Acid paste in a band surrounding the terminal bud of Walnut trees three times throughout the Summer months. Results produced 8.5 feet of growth for treated trees versus 1.5 feet for their untreated counterparts.
Regular applications of Gibberellic Acid in flower gardens can maximize the blossoms produced by a plant. Increased size of blossoms will also occur. Stunning results will make your flower garden a sight to be seen. In situations of incomplete pollination for fruit sets, Gibberellic Acid can be used to increase the fruit set. Fruit produced can be partially to completely seedless. Increases in total yield and rapid growth for greenhouse tomatoes can be seen due to the increases in fruit set.
In the case of plants that receive a limited growing season. Indoor and outdoor plants can become dormant. Even indoor plants regulated by natural light can go into dormancy. A prime example is the Ficus Fig dropping it's leaves in late Fall. Gibberellic Acid treatments effectively overcome dormancy and can cause rapid seed germination. Tubers treated with 2 ppm concentrations can be made to sprout early.
In developing plants, the direct application of Gibberellic Acid can induce premature flowering. Repeated treatments may be necessary to sustain this development. Male flowers can be induced with concentrations from 10 to 200 ppm and female flowers with concentrations from 200 to 300 ppm. Both male and female flowers can be suppressed with concentrations over 600 ppm.
Frost damage can also be corrected with the application of Gibberellic Acid.
