These Solid Brass Connectors are 2" long when screwed together and 1" in diameter. The Machine threads are 1/4" X 20 between the two connector parts and 3/8" by 16 on both outer ends. These machine threads can be cut into hardwood like Maple, Rosewood, Teak. Ebony Walnut etc. These are not recommended for softwood walking sticks as machine threads don't hold well in tapped softwood.
Tapping the holes to fit both ends of the connector makes this attachment very easy to install if you know how to tap holes and have the proper taps.
These connectors are used to split canes into two or three pieces so you can pack them in your bags when you travel. They also can be used for any type of hiking or trekking poles or anything else that you want to break into two or more pieces
Anyone who would be interested in these should have the basic knowledge in what they will work with and how they can be mounted so I will refrain from giving my approach to using the connectors. Some woodworking experience and knowledge will help in mounting the connectors.
The best fit is done by tapping as stated above but is costly and requires special tools.
NOTE : Most customers not familiar with the tapping process will use these by drilling a hole a little larger than measured size and pushing
the connectors in the hole with epoxy.
